The first event of the 2019 season was also a first for our group, supporting the Rotary Club of Bourne, Lincolnshire, with their annual Run in the Woods, in aid of Polio Eradication.

The popular and picturesque run, on hard track in the beautiful and historic Bourne woods, along part of a farm track and also a bridle way, is a very popular event, providing runners of all abilities the opportunity to take part in either the 3k or 10k races.

Our group were granted special permission to access the historic woods. We provided 6 vehicles and responders for the event, taking on various roles: – course marshalling, sweeper support vehicle, derig and clean up support and providing police approved traffic calming measures for vehicles leaving the event. We also provided radio communication for all event marshals, and our defibrillator was kept at the furthest marshal point.

The event organisers were very impressed with our conduct and professionalism and we have been asked if we can support the event next year.
